Joy Tao, MD is a board-certified dermatologist with advanced fellowship training in lasers and cosmetic dermatology. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, graduating with honors in research. She then completed her dermatology residency at Loyola University Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident.
She went on to complete a prestigious cosmetic dermatologic surgery fellowship through the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery at the world-renowned Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York, under the mentorship of Dr. Roy Geronemus-an internationally recognized leader and pioneer in laser and cosmetic dermatology.
During her fellowship, Dr. Tao served as a sub-investigator on numerous clinical trials involving energy-based devices and injectables, contributing to advancements in cosmetic dermatology. She has lectured nationally and published extensively on a wide range of topics in medical, laser, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Tao’s clinical expertise spans neuromodulators, dermal fillers, biostimulators, and an extensive range of laser and energy-based devices-including both ablative and nonablative resurfacing, vascular and pigment lasers, laser hair removal, acne lasers, tissue tightening, and cellulite treatment. Her special interests include acne and traumatic scarring, birthmarks, including port-wine birthmarks, and permanent makeup/tattoo removal.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Tao is on staff at the Veteran Affairs Hospital, where she cares for veterans with complex dermatologic conditions, including skin cancer, and helps train dermatology residents. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Tao enjoys traveling, practicing pilates, and exploring new restaurants.
